Wouldn’t it be nice to learn more about one of the most iconic American bands, the Beach Boys? Join Dr Sławomir Kuśnicki today at the Provincial Foreign Language Library of Opole to have just such a chance.
This meeting will focus on one of the most well-known groups in the history of popular music. No matter whether you only know Kokomo and are interested in Pet Sounds, or perhaps already recognize the band’s earliest work, you will find something of interest.
The group, led creatively by Brian Wilson and featuring such iconic members as Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine, and later Bruce Johnston, was instrumental in shaping the so-called California sound. Their harmonies, songwriting, and studio innovations influenced generations of musicians, with artists ranging from Weezer to countless indie and alternative bands drawing inspiration from their work and influential California style.
Dr. Sławomir Kuźnicki is an author, literary critic, translator, and lecturer at the University of Opole. His scholarly work focuses on the intersections of literature and music, particularly rock culture and its broader cultural contexts. Throughout his career, he has published monographs on dystopian fiction and literary perspectives on rock music.
We are proud to invite you to this event, prepared at the Provincial Foreign Language Library (at Kośnego 34 in Opole) with the help of University of Opole’s Institute of Literary Studies, and hope to see you there at 5:45 today.
