Let Us Enter the Magical World of Hiwasai 2025!

What is Hiwasai, apart from a unique transliterated set of kanji symbols? It is a Japanese culture festival taking place from the 1st to the 2nd of February in Opole!

As the Fenix Opole Fantasy Club notes, Hiwasai is going to be a ticketed, two-day long special convention aimed at fans of Japanese pop culture. No matter what aspect of this vibrant world piques your interest, you will find plenty of themed rooms and fascinating (in most cases Polish-language) lectures, workshops, and guest meet-ups to enjoy. After a successful first edition last year, they are expecting a strong turnout once more, drawing participants from across Opole, the surrounding region, and further beyond.

The event’s name cleverly links the image of a phoenix (the titular mascot of the organizing group) with the nature and spirit of Japanese winter-time Shinto festivities, which are full of fireworks and light. Thanks to the way Japanese kanji work, the chosen symbols -火 (hi) for fire, 羽 (hane/wa) for feathers, and 祭 (matsuri/sai) for festival – form a one-of-a-kind term, perfect for capturing the energy and magic of this yearly celebration.

We are extremely grateful to the team behind Hiwasai for inviting us and look forward to attending, meeting our readers, and soaking up the festival atmosphere. We can brighten up these cold, dark, harsh days together on the grounds of the Stanislaw Staszic Vocational School Complex (at Andrzej Strug Street 16A)!
