This Friday, we had the chance to meet Esther Wojcicki, one of the people most involved in shaping Silicon Valley as we know it.
The special guest came to Opole from Warsaw and was very pleased to be discovering a new area for the very first time. The event started with a viewing of a documentary film about her life and then the meeting continued through a Q&A session.
It was really interesting to hear all her stories, learn about all the projects that she helped shape, and get to know all the companies and people she was involved with. She is a teacher who created her own method called the TRICK method: Trust, Respect, Independence, Collaboration, and Kindness. This is a teaching approach focused on giving students trust and independence while encouraging cooperation and mutual respect. A big part of the meeting was focused on this approach.
The movie showcased the story of her husband, who migrated from Poland to America, and how she and her family are still connected with their Polish roots and heritage.
It was a pleasure to learn more about her inspiring life, through the lense of her own recollections, her family’s stories, as well as interviews with some generations of former students. We believe that this will be just the beginning of more such presentations happening here in the future.
