We are starting the new year with a bang – or rather, a signal! Join us in an exciting quest to take over the online airwaves through our work with Radio Sygnały (Signals).
As mentioned on their website, Radio Sygnały, the only 24-hour live feed from the University of Opole, originally launched on April 24, 1957. It originated as a public address system for the three dormitories of the “Higher Pedagogical School”, which was the university’s earliest form. After a break from 2000 to 2005, Radio Sygnały returned in a more modern form as an online station. Our first weekly show, inspired by the “International Variety Hour” pilot episode, will be titled “OPOlisten by OPOlink.pl” (with the original title becoming the show’s tagline). The inaugural broadcast is scheduled for today at 16:30, and the link to listen and additional information can be found in the Radio section of our website.
OPOlink.pl’s original concept was directly inspired by the content of the station, with the aim of connecting with the international community in Opole through similar topics as the ones often presented by its newsroom. This vision was sparked by one of their journalists, and it even influenced the design of our mascot, whose shoes and hat pay tribute to the broadcaster’s signature colors. After a test broadcast in June and formalizing our collaboration in October, we are thrilled to take the next step in this partnership as we kick off the year 2025. Stay tuned for even more ideas that we will bring to life together in the near future.
This, however, will certainly not be the last new market we are looking forward to entering in the next 12 months. Keep an ear on our broadcasts and follow our social media accounts (including the verified Bluesky profile we have launched this week) to stay informed about all our upcoming plans!
