On the 5th of September, we took part in the inaugural concert of the Itaka Arena. The guests included Arka Noego, Skytech, and coming to Opole from Portugal, Padre Guilherme.
The “Lift Up Your Hearts (W górę serca)” show became one of the most popular in the history of Opole, with 14 thousand charity tickets selling very quickly, which eventually led to the event being moved to a larger venue. The weather also really helped the concert. While it did rain for a few minutes, the evening and night turned out to be quite warm and made for a great atmosphere for a party.
The musicians put on a very memorable show. Arka Noego is a predominantly kids-centered group well known in Poland for its many hits and has even performed at Woodstock Festival Poland, now known as Pol’and’Rock, the biggest local rock festival. Meanwhile, Skytech has played on some of the biggest stages in the world, including Tomorrowland, and collaborated with various well-known DJs (such as Martin Garrix, Armin van Bureen, or R3HAB). Padre Guilherme is well known for connecting music and religion, bringing these two elements together through his popular large-scale performances all over the world (prior locations included, for example, Rio de Janeiro and Cluj-Napoca), which also feature the addition of a lot of humor. The show was hosted by Donat Przybylski, with Ida Nowakowska and Tomasz Wolny coming in as announcers during the finale.
OPOlink® is not a religious project, but we are open to and supportive of people of all religions and beliefs. One of our goals is to help preserve important parts of Opole’s history. In this case, the concert aided the restoration and preservation of Opole Cathedral of the Holy Cross, an important part of the city.
We hope that many more exciting gatherings like this will take place at Itaka Arena in Opole in the future, and if so, we will do our best to be there.
