I Wanna Dance with Somebody: A Tribute to Whitney Houston

In the Brzeg Cultural Centre, January is not going to be cold at all! Local artists will spread fire all over the stage with the greatest Whitney Houston hits and classics.

The show will take place in Brzeg, a town located about 45 km from Opole, in its Cultural Centre, and has its premiere scheduled for the 17th of January. The event is going to be a tribute paid to Whitney Houston, which means the performance will be full of her legendary music, great choreography, and 80s aesthetics. This project is the latest and third production like this by an artistic group called “Loża”, prepared under the supervision of Aleksandra Ofmańska-Kowalczyk. Over a year ago, they performed a Tribute to Freddie Mercury, with a live band on stage, and two years ago a Tribute to Michael Jackson.

We had a chance to ask some questions about the details while talking with the organizer and supervisor of the project. According to Aleksandra Ofmańska-Kowalczyk, these days before the show can be very stressful, but she also says she is more and more excited every day closer to the show. “We have a lot of work ahead, so this stress is mixed with excitement,” she says; however, the work is still in progress to give us the audience a great piece of art. She also emphasizes that everyone will find in this project something for them. “Some people will come to see our concert just for iconic songs, good music, and, as a bonus, the choreography; some will come to see dancers and choreography and, in addition, listen to the covers.”

If you like the idea and you are free on January the 17th, stay alert for the tickets, which will appear on the Facebook site of Brzeg Cultural Centre (Brzeskie Centrum Kultury). It is not so far from Opole, and there is a train connection, but if you choose driving a car, there is a lot of free parking space nearby. The event is not only for the fans of Whitney Houston; it is also a great opportunity to just go out with your friends to discover retro music and new places.

Tickets are available at the BCK office as well as through the online system here.

Since I can remember I have been interested or involved in artistic projects. Music, poetry, and also creating different things have always drawn my attention. I consider myself as an artistic soul and that is how I express myself. I am not afraid of standing out, being curious, and asking questions.
