Today is the official start of the 24th edition of the Opole Llamas Movie Festival. This year’s edition of the festival focuses on one word: GOODNESS. We are proud to present to you an official international schedule.
Nine days full of premieres, meetings with filmmakers, world and Polish cinema and films for the youngest, bringing Opole to life with film. Independent productions, official premieres and retrospectives are some of the things audiences can expect (with unique experiences in cinemas, universities, libraries, railway stations and urban cultural spaces).
This year’s Opole Llamas will focus on the question of doing good in the modern world. The films selected for the program will touch on topics like the personal nature of good, and at the same time its power. It will serve as an invitation to work through conflict and look for solutions together.
The festival films will compete in competitions in three main categories: the Feature Film Competition, the Short Film Competition (in the fewature, documentary, and animation sections) and the Amateur Film Competition. An independent jury comprised of filmmakers, experts and practitioners, and the viewers, as every year, will choose the winner of the Audience Award.
This year, the Honorary Lama, an award for outstanding artistic achievements, will be awarded to Tomasz Schuchardt, an actor whose ability to reach for various means of expression still surprises and fascinates. Due to the artist’s busy schedule, it will not be possible to meet him in Opole this year, but a retrospective of his work will be held as part of the festival.
Apart from the competition screenings, the programme will include works selected in the World and Polish Cinema, New Norwegian Cinema, Llamas for Kids categories, and numerous accompanying events, such as exhibitions, workshops and special screenings, and meetings with filmmakers.
